Victoria Park Academy: a new leadership chapter in Shenzhen

Check out the photos in this blog post to see Victoria Park Academy (VPA) – a brand new, state-of-the-art school opening this summer… and I’m going to be the Deputy Principal! The school is located in China’s innovation hub, Shenzhen, and will be the new sister school of Victoria Shanghai Academy (VSA).

I’m delighted to be offered one of two Deputy Principal positions, alongside Gloria Li who I worked with at VSA for seven years (before she moved to the US to study at Harvard). I’m confident that Gloria and I will make an excellent partnership as Deputy Principals and that we’ll be valuable assets on the VPA senior leadership team. I can’t wait!

In particular, I’m excited to establish and grow a new school. We will be able to replicate some of the VSA systems and approaches to give us a kick-start but, really, we’re starting a brand new school from scratch. In this challenge, I see many opportunities. For example, we get to set and cultivate a new, all-important school culture and, for years to come, I’ll be able to proudly say that I was part of the VPA founding team.

I wouldn’t normally announce such a big move so early, but I’m on a recruitment mission! We’re looking for teachers to join us on this adventure! Please reach out if you’re interested. In fact, if you’re in the UK, we might even be able to arrange a face-to-face interview because I’m here until the end of March. If you know someone who might be interested, please share this with them.

That’s all I’ll say at this stage. I look forward to sharing updates on my blog and documenting this next chapter. Stay tuned!
